Rick S. Hoffman

Position

Rick is a principal and one of the founding shareholders of the Lone Peak Valuation Group and is primarily involved with performing business valuations and litigation consulting services. Rick is a Certified Public Accountant, Accredited in Business Valuation.

Experience

Rick has over eighteen years of experience in public accounting and consulting. Prior to forming Lone Peak Valuation Group, Rick was the Managing Director of the Salt Lake City office of LECG.  Before that, Rick was a Director at PriceWaterhouseCoopers.  He has been primarily involved with calculating damages related to commercial litigation in a variety of industries.  He has had a particularly large amount of industry experience with MLM’s, technology firms, professional service firms and energy companies.

He has also spent considerable time performing business valuations inside and outside of the litigation arena, with particular emphasis in the valuation of intellectual property. Rick has substantial additional training in the areas of valuation, litigation, and lost profit calculations. He has regularly taught on the subject of damages and has testified in state and federal court litigation matters. Additionally, he has acted as Special Master and has served as a court-appointed expert.

Rick has published over 30 articles, books and speeches on the subject of financial valuation, including the book, “Intellectual Property Damages: Guidelines and Analysis.”
